I'm sorry if I write in english. I don't speak german.
As far as i know, our NR7101 accepts DFOTA module updates wich is a delta firmware update wich is incremental firmware update from the previous.
For example file RG502QEAAAR11A03M4G-RG502QEAAAR11A06M4G.zip is the DFOTA file built to update the module firmware from 11A03 to 11A06.
Instead, file RG502QEAAAR11A06M4G-RG502QEAAAR11A03M4G.zip is a DFOTA firmware to go back from 11A06 to 11A03 (can be downloaded from http://79.161.156.252/.
It's not difficult to build a DFOTA firmware starting from both firmwares with the appropriate tool.
For example here are some tools to build a DFOTA: https://dfota.quectel.com:8443/login.
Unfortunately there is no DFOTA tool for RG502QEA.
And I cannot find a file like RG502QEAAAR11A07M4G-RG502QEAAAR11A06M4G.zip
To go back from 11A07 to 11A06.
So my question is:
If I update my module to 11A07 just for testing the new firmware using the file
RG502QEAAAR11A06M4G-RG502QEAAAR11A07M4G.zip (downloaded from http://79.161.156.252/)
How can I revert back to 11A06 if the new firmware is unsatisfactory?
How can I update the firmware of my RG502QEA without DFOTA and only starting from the basic firmware?
And possibly without opening my NR7101?
Or, anybody knows how to build a DFOTA for RG502QEA?
Thank you
Found on another forum (forums.whirlpool.net.au) a possible way to flash the full firmware over firehorse but i have not tried it nor can i guarantee anything. On the other topics i cannot provide any useful information

Thank you.
I'm in contact with an italian owner of a NR7101 and he is able to install a stock quectel firmware using linux and ROOter. He is running new module firmware R13A01M4G on NR7101with Zyxel V5 firmware and he says it works much better but cell lock is only configurable by AT commands and not with Zyxel V5 GUI.
Of course root password is needed.
He also tried R11A07M4G and he says it works much better than R11A06M4G.
He tried R11A07M4G installing from DFOTA and also from Stock quectel firmware.
So it seems the DFOTA firmware posted above is not dangerous and fully functional.
I will try R11A07M4G when I'll be able to go back to R11A06M4G.
Works in progress.

Hi,

Deswegen 2 Fragen dazu:

1. Wie komplex ist die Installation? Wird dazu weitere Hardware benötigt?
2. Kann man theoretisch wieder zurück zur Herstellersoftware?

LG Max
Ich fand alles was ich brauchte hier:
* https://openwrt.org/toh/zyxel/nr7101
* https://forum.openwrt.org/t/flash-on-zyxel-nr7101/

Hello, im that guy 🤣🤣.
Aye, been working hard whit ROOter developer, and also bjorn, which made public many details and made openwrt firmware for zyxel NR7101.
Im about to do a videoguide for the firmware installation.
Basically, it all start by discovering the possibility to install firmware whit QFirehose on network, so you don't phisically need the module, or better, you already have QFirehose on zyxel, but it does not work, idk if it is locked or whatever.
Also, the zyxel doesn't have enough ram to keep the full firmware package, so you must do it remotely.
Also let's clarify, zyxel have nothing to do whit the quectel module firmware, so you can install whatever official quectel firmware for the RG502Q-EA you want.
This is possible, because we added latest QFirehose to ROOter builds, so you need to install ROOter, which is a fork of openwrt specifically for modems.
Then you use QFirehose from a linux desktop or whatever you want, with a compiled Qfirehose.
The hard part was to sort out the right commands to go to ROOter, install firmware, then going back to zyxel Firmware whitout breaking anything.
Also, after you go back to Zyxel firmware, you retain your settings, which means you dont need to reset, or reconfigure your zyxel.
All you have to do, is giving a restart of the zyxel on GUI or ssh, for the modem to connect again.

If anyone of you also uses Telekom D1 (APN internet.t-d1.de) with a public IPv4 address that allows accepting incoming connections, I can advise you to daily reboot the device (to force obtaining a new modem dial and fresh IPv4 address). I noticed that roughly after 24...48 hours of uptime Telekom blocked incoming connections partially, mainly originating from Telekom mobile data clients like my phone. It's kind of obscure, because connections originating from Telekom or O2 DSL I've tested still could connect to my server running on T-D1. I read somewhere on telekom-hilft.de in a forum thread, that this is intended behaviour of Telekom to keep business users away from running permanent servers with a static IP address while on mobile data APN internet.t-d1.de .

The workaround is: Put a daily reboot of your Quectel NR 7101 in place and since I did that, my incoming connections worked - regardless where they originated from.
